Is there a special driver i can install to ensure that any midi to usb cable i buy and want to use, will work in ubuntu?

Hey,

I do not believe that you will need special drivers - I never did. Ubuntu is mainly plug and play, so JACK should pick it up.

Cool thanks!

But was it a random cable off eBay or like an M-Audio 1?
I know that there is a midi driver in synaptic just for M-Audio Instruments

I bought it from a shop, and no drivers exist, however I use the ROMIO drivers for Windows. Protip: these drivers are normally generic. If you have the cable, try it. If you need to install the M-Audio driver, again try it. If it doesn't work, well, could be drivers, could be something else.

What cable are you going/have purchase(d)?

I'm looking at a cheap one on ebay. No particular brand or model, as funds are low, the inability to get a job also does not help this situations, so, yeah cheap and simple. £4-£5 maybe.

Thanks

Normally it will be Generic. Good luck with your drivers! :)
