I have upgraded to 9.04 on line and it runs great, when not locking up.

After 1 munute from boot, it locks up, no matter what I am doing.

Strangly enough, to me, if I boot after I put the 9.40 disk in the cd, it does not crash.

It is not booting from the cd. When I boot, all of the activity is on the hard drive.

Am I missing something here?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Did you select to boot from the first hard disk when using the Live CD?

I have never used the live cd. I do have bios set to boot from cd as the 1st boot device. I have to tell it though, to do so on boot. (hit any key to boot from cd)

Hmm...

My only thought at this point is that a driver or something may not be installed, but I'm coming from a Windows background - I don't know whether Ubuntu searches for a driver on the Live CD or not.

As a sort of similarity, I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 on a Live CD (currently typing from it) because the PC I'm using it on locks up totally with Windows XP. I haven't a clue why though.

Again, it could be faulty RAM, but one would assume that this would happen all of the time.
