Does anyone know if there are text-based games for Linux? Some of you may remember the old text-based "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" game for DOS, Apple ][, etc., back in the day. Anything like that for Linux now?

+1 nethack.

20 years or so of story built into it, and it's still active and being added on top of it. Truly a massively single player RPG...

Never played that one but I use to play the Scott Adams games on my old TRaSh-80; also "Microsoft Adventure". Today's games are mind-blowing cool but there's just something...I don't know....more fun(?) about reading "A little dwarf throws an axe at you" and picturing it in your mind. I use to type "Kick the dwarf's butt" but it never worked. LOL

dude its 2011 get a video card a copy of windows and play some modern warfare 3, use your real words to yell at people and your mouse to shoot them in the face. You can type WASD to walk in a odd circle.

Just joking around here.
