Hello,
Recently I installed Ubuntu Server 8.04.2 LTS and configured it for my needs. The target machine was one of those Lenovo ThinkPad servers with quad core Xeon CPU.

However, when I got home, I installed a VirtualBox guest OS, from the same ISO file, and I noticed, I had downloaded 32bit edition of Ubuntu server.

So, the question- is it possible to change the "version" of Ubuntu server from 32bit to 64bit. Can I somehow switch kernels and keep my configuration, or do I have to reinstall system from proper CD?

You have to reinstall from the proper cd.
