Well, I visited the site, and they are offering the inspiron with ubuntu for $349. I wish this had been in place a year ago. Then all they offered with ubuntu were their more expensive models.

Dell's stock of Ubuntu installed machines has drifted in and out, and varies across different markets, very "patchy".

In the UK they used to have a fairly comprehensive range of desktops and laptops with Ubuntu, but not any more.
Guess they just didn't sell.

yeah. i bought a dell inspiron 1525n from dell, with ubuntu preinstalled, about a year and a half ago. and it was cheaper than the windows equivalent! now when i check back to see whats happening, i see nothing is happening! they seem not to sell anything beyond the netbook in the uk anymore. shame though, cause im very satisfied with the customer service, the laptop and everything.

oh well.
