Which linux distribution for 256mb

pen drive will not be a full 256mb, so you'll need smaller than even that.
i guess you would be looking for a live linux?

Knoppix is one of my favorite LiveCD Distros. I'm sure you can find how to install it to a thumb drive with a quick google search.

i have slax on a pen drive 256mb and it works pretty well:)
