Hi all.
I am having problems reinstalling Ubuntu.
When the installation progress goes to roundabout 55-60%, an error message pops up, and it says that the installation failed because of an I/O error.
It suggests that there may be something stopping the CD from being read properly.
I hope you can think up of a solution for this :)

You can test the CD from the opening menu -- it may have errors.

I checked the integrity of the CD, and it finds 1 error.
I remember seeing Pidgin being mentioned on the error box. :?

Two suggestions. First do a checksum on your downloaded .iso.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
If that matches, burn it again at a slow speed (4x or less).

I got it using ShipIt
Any other suggestions?

No, unless you can download the .iso and burn a new disk.
You might also try running the cd test on a different computer, in case your drive is faulty.

Hmm, can Ubuntu run off the RAM? I downloaded a new ISO, and I will need to burn it
EDIT: I just managed to install Ubuntu :D
