This is a useful page for you:

I would think unetbootin might be the best option, but why Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy)? Gutsy is now unsupported, so you won't be able to get any updates for it. While you're about it, why not install either 8.04, the LTS release, or the latest 9.04?

If you want to install 7.10 because you have a CD, that may not be a good reason. For unetbootin you either let it download everything for you, or you use a CD iso image, not the CD itself. You could make an iso from your CD, but I still think you're better off getting a later version.

Are you able to download ISOs? Do you have broadband?

u can use netbootin. It makes live-usb with iso.
