View Full Version : [ubuntu] file manager problems with new 9.04 install

I wondering if I should reinstall 9.04 or do something else to fix this:

I have an external drive with all my data files. I now have a data partition. When trying to copying these files some of the time (too many files at a time, files too big, or empty) the file manager spends inordinate amounts of time trying to set this up. I try to cancel, file manager doesn't like this, but does close the windows involved. If I try to restart the whole system to clear things - it says file manager and sometimes another program still running. Forcing it to end, doesn't work that well either. Leaving it all night seems better but ....

I have other issues which may be related. Some of the files on the external drive don't always show up (disconnecting from USB, and unplugging, waiting and plugging it in again and reconnecting fixes things mostly. I have no idea if this is an external drive problem or just as it interfaces with the ubuntu system.

Ideas? Thanks!
