I am running KUbuntu 8.04 (Hardy) with KDE 3.5.10.
I am monitoring the memory usage with ksysguard: I'll report VmSize here, more info in the image attached.
firefox 581M
amarokapp 150M
xorg 145M
total : 950M / 1G
1) Is VmSize the right data to monitor?
2) How come those figures are so high? Is it normal? I checked on another computer running Jaunty and KDE 4.2 and those apps would take at least 5 times less memory...
firefox has 5 tabs open (Gmail, a personal webpage with simple content, 2 facebooks and this forum), but with less tabs the memory usage is about the same.
xorg is running 2 separate screens (monitor + TV) using nvidia driver.
