My shaver broke down today and I should buy another one :d

I am wondering what models are popular between Ubuntu-ers :D. I am looking to spend some USD $100 for the new shaver. It should be possible to groom beard with it too.

Suggestions are welcome.

I use an older Norelco...I think it's one of the Speed series. Previous one was also a Norelco. Both of them are rotary models and I've liked them very much.

Bog-standard, two blade razors and shaving foam/gel/oil. Razors with stupid amount of blades really don't fill me with confidence at all. I've seen a six-bladed razor on sale in the supermarket. The thing looks like something out of a slasher flick. It's positively cringe-inducing.

Real men use razor blades.

I use a Gillette Mach 3 turbo, best one I ever used.

although not written, some corporations frown on a full on beard.

You mean the razor blade that vibrates and spurts feminine moisturising lotion at you? There's nothing manly about that.

REAL MEN shave with gunpowder. You smear some glue to your beard, sprinkle on the gunpowder and then lean into the blue flame of a blowtorch. Real men literally explode their beards off.

But a true geek wouldn't work for such an organisation anyway.

With shave cream +1

I've never found a difference between using and not using shaving cream, to be honest.

But definitely a +1 for a razor and water. Works much better (cleaner shave and no in-grown hairs) than any shaver.

i've been using this method for a while -

it can be a bit tricky after a few pints when you decide to shave everywhere.

I did, I have a real rough beard, without it, it hurts like hell. Thats one of the reasons why I don't' use a machine, until now I didn't find one that was up to the job. >_<

1966 Wahl taper. Same one my mother used to use on me when I was 5 years old. #2 attachment and buzz all over my head. Buzz cuts are dorky looking, but that was the style before the Beatles.

No attachment and you get a passable shave. Works well on those back hairs as well.

Merkur double-edge razors (a Futur, and one I can't identify (possibly "Rake edge", possibly a "34")), Tesco double-edge blades, King of Shave gel, Proraso pre/post shaving cream.

Oh, and an unbranded beard trimmer to keep the goatee in shape.

Well, as shaving's part of life as a male, I might as well enjoy it. :)

I've tried all types of shavers; straight/open razors (aka cut-throats) are the best one yet. Tricky to learn, but very rewarding once you've got it right. New ones don't come cheap, but they do last a lifetime or two.

I use the Gillette Fusion Power razor. I don't like electric shavers. I do use an electric toothbrush though.
