I've tried to install ubuntu on my EEEPC a few times. I did the complete install on to an SD card so I can keep the internal SSD untouched. I even went to the advanced option and choose to put the grub boot loader on the SD card not the internal SSD.

The installs completed successfully, but there are 2 main problems.

1. when I choose to boot from the SD card it gets about half way, then can't find the correct location of the SD and the boot fails.

2. More importantly, my SD card is now unreadable in ubuntu and windows. I can't even reformat it. I now have 3 SD cards that I can't use.
