View Full Version : [ubuntu] i start a download, and external monitor turns off and i cant do anything

im at a loss as what to do, i think it happens when is start downloading..but i dont know it might just be random.
i can hit ctrl alt and f1 and it logs me into terminal on my laptop
but i dont know what to do from there
so if any one has solutions i would appreciate it alot
thanks for your help.


could it be a screen saver?
if so what would i be able to do?
because i have no control over the computer once the monitor is gone
because i leave the laptop screen off

Hi

We'll need more information than your original post presented.

The more the better.

A minimum would be all your hardware information, your installed OSes, and perhaps a little more detail on the difficulty.

Commonly adjustable settings for the control and conservation of power and such things as screensavers are found and adjusted without much poking around so we will probably assume that you've already adjusted those appropriately.

ctrl+alt+f7 should bring you back to the gui

well i have a dell mini 9 running jaunty jackalope
16 gig ssd
intel atom chip
thats really all i know
but it hasnt happened since i did
sudo killall gnome-screensaver
so i think that is what it is
