View Full Version : [ubuntu] Help For A Newbie On Ubuntu 8.10

Hi & a pleasure to be here.

I have currently installed last night, ubuntu 8.10 as a 2nd OS with WinXP (appears as a app).

And I have a a porblem when I am trying to load Ubuntu, the OS stop where it says: "starting Bluetooth"but I know my computer doesn't have a bluetooth so there is the problem, I woulc like to disable that part and also driver for the computer to use in Ubuntu.

Laptop:
Medion SIM 2000
1.4 Ghz - Celeron M
512MB Ram

in ubuntu 9.04 go to
system preferences / startup applications


I think in 8.10 its called sessions
system preferences / sessions

In there just untick the bluetooth manager applet. :D

I had that problem with my OQO when I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on it. Since I didn't want the Bluetooth due to not wanting people to hack into my system through the Bluetooth connection, I just disabled the radio on bootup. The OQO can do it in the BIOS as well as during the bootup process with the "FN" key and the "Bluetooth Radio" key. Maybe that'll help if you can't get into the actual Ubuntu system?

Apparently I got rid of the initial installation as a friend help get Ubuntu installed
So Im gonna be careful from now on.
