Has anyone else been searching for some non ubuntu related problem, finding a bunch of crappy solutions or adware on google, then search ubuntu <Problem X> and found a great and free solution?

Nope. A search engine is only as good as the search string you enter. If you want FreeWare or OpenSource software, ask for that in your search. e.g. "ubuntu photo application" & "opensource photo application" will give very different results.

I've noticed this too. It's a little annoying, but I don't really care. Whatever it takes to get the results.

One helpful thing is to use Google's Linux search instead of the normal one..

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I have a Firefox search engine that searches only the Ubuntu forums site, using Google. You might find it useful.

Download it here (http://fmc.isgreat.org/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=category&id=3%3Autilities&download=3%3Agubuntu&Itemid=1&lang=en), then put the downloaded file in the searchplugins folder under your firefox profile folder, then restart Firefox. It will add a search engine named "gUbuntu".

It's more annoying than anything else, whenever I try to search something linux related I generally have to specifically omit searches results with Ubuntu to find anything of decent quality and relevance.
