hi guys, im starting with ubuntu and i just wanted to ask what you guys thought of this list of to do things after insatalling ubuntu. i came across it on the net.

seems ok from a casual glance, read the comments BEFORE doing any of it though...

It looks a bit pointless to me. I wouldn't need most of the items on the to-do list, so it would be a waste of my time installing them and also bloat my system. It's not really a to-do list, just more of a list of applications you might want to install, most of which, as I've said, I would never use.

As always the first suggestions is play around with Compiz: install CompizConfig Settings Manager from "Add remove..." and make flip the cube ;D
When you get bored then find alternatives to the programs that you used in Windows, then contribute to Ubuntu development: translation is also contribution.

It's a bit too much stuff really, most of it isnt needed.
My list goes a little something like:
restricted extras sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
vlc media player sudo apt-get install vlc
flash think you can get it from the website
java website again
skype sudo apt-get install skype
restore my firefox settings using the FEBE addon
