Greetings, all.

I had been running Ubuntu 8.04, and was using xscreensaver. All was well until I updated to 8.10 (and from thence to 9.04).

I have re-installed xscreensaver, but the "lock" button no longer does anything.

From searching the other entries, I haven't seen an problem quite like this one, so I thought I would post it.

Ideas?

Some other notes; I don't recall if under 8.04, I uninstalled gnome-screensaver or not, but in 9.04, it is not installed. Maybe I need to uninstall xscreen saver, install the gnome one, and then re-install the xscreensaver???

Somewhere, there should be a file that controls what the panel buttons do.

I have the same problem on Jaunty 9.04 Live USB install. The screensaver lock does not work.
I'm searching for a solution but i does not find one. The "lock" button does anything. Neither with gnome-screensaver nor with xscreensaver.

A solution would be useful.

Thanks

This is a known problem with XScreensaver. The solution (sorry, I no longer have the link) was to download a desklet that provided the same function on the desktop.
