View Full Version : I have the swine flu!

I got the swine flu! And I'm not even kidding.
Tell you the story. Now that it's been a couple weeks since the outbreak, people seem to have gotten bored of it. :) But it's still around (believe it or not :o)! So Saturday night I did an all-nighter, which always drops my immune system down a ton. And guess what, the next day (Sunday) I felt really tired, a lot more so than I usually do after an all-nighter. Well I hung around til afternoon, and that's when I started getting a headache and a fever. Monday was Memorial Day, so no school for me. And fortunately I was feeling a bit better by then. I thought I got over it, but no, today's Tuesday and I'm feeling a lot worse. Well now I'm sure I got it, even went to CDC.gov to look up the symptoms, and I matched a lot of it. :( That'd be a really really bad headache, jointaches (my wrists (and it's not RSI ;))), sore throat, fatigue, chills, and on-and-off fevers (7PM every night for me). I'll probably still have to make it to the end of year though since I have some important reviews and final exams in the next couple of days. Good thing is, I don't have a runny nose, diarrhea, or coughing, so I won't be contaminating anyone. Also, I'm just gonna skip the medications since it's already been 3 days and they say the majority of people recover without them. Oh yeah, and I'm an "older children/young adult", so I'm supposed to be in the least endangered group. But we do have a lot of cases at my school and being in a CPR class doesn't help.
Wish me luck that I don't die. :D Jk, only 1% of swine flu victims die.. or so they say. Sorry for that long post, just want yall feeling sorry for me. ;)

well... i might as well tell you what they do in the hospital anyways. They simply hook you up to a drip of vitamins, minerals (and whatever else they wanna put in) and leave you there until you recover. Thats all there is to it.

You match some of the symptoms, hrmm? The trouble is, the symptoms of swine flu are pretty much identical to those of plain old vanilla influenza. I don't like it when viruses fork for no good reason. To be honest, it sounds to be like you just had a bad cold. Same thing? Probably. You know, all viruses have the potential to be deadly. I don't think you'll die, though. Just a hunch.

Treat it as you would a normal flu: drink lots of water, Get some rest, Take vitamins, etc. You should be fine. More than likely you will not need any of the special drugs such and Tamiful -- they don't really work half the time anyways and for this strain they aren't very effective either. Also, quit watching the mainstream media :P
Also, the good thing is that now you have it, if you get it again or if a this strain mutates you will not be as easy to infect and it won't make you as sick more than likely.

Go to the doctor to actually find out if you do. Many things match the symptoms of H1N1.

I'm closing this.
If you think you have H1N1, seek professional help rather than posting on a technical forum. As others have noted, matching symptoms posted on CDC.gov should not be considered a diagnosis.
Furthermore, if you are diagnosed by a licensed physician you should be responsible by discontinuing your daily activities that put you in public places, including "important reviews and final exams".
Thank you.
