I was trying to navigate to KDE because I like the way it shows the widgets on the desktop, but I was wondering if I could use the Compiz features (like the cube and wobbly windows)

And also, how do I make it so that it requires a double click to start an application on the desktop, not a single click

No need for compiz, because the KDE window manager kwin has compositing (wobbly windows, cube etc.) built-in. Go to System Settings > Desktop > Enable Desktop Effects.

For doubleclick: System Settings > Keyboard and Mouse > Mouse > Double click to open files and folders.
