Being a Chelsea fan i can not find it in me to support Barcelona after the disgrace from the referee which cost us our rightful place in the final. Seeing as only one team got there fairly I hope that is the team to win.

Although I hate ManU with a passion nothing can compare to the loathing towards Tom Ovrebo (the ref) and Barcelona.

I am glad Chelsea is not a part of this final, they play the most boring defensive football ever seen. 8-2-0 yay!!!

Barcelona does play the most entertaining football of the finalist, but their weak defense (due to players out) are probably meaning that ManU will win.

It was a pretty weak match (remembers the awesomeness that was Liverpool - Chelsea in the quarters).

Not entertaining at all and lots of mistakes, especially on Man U behalf.

I remember one of the midfielders just kicking next to the ball, the defender playing back to Van Der Sar but he was 15 meters off and the ball went into corner.

Chelsea vs Arsenal this season
Chelsea 2 Arsenal 1

Overall Chelsea 7 Arsenal 4
------
Chelsea are not the best team in europe the are in the top 3.

Barca Chelsea ManU

Each have their day, the semi final chelsea should have won but the ref was awful. ManU have been the best in the league. Barca Play great football.

Chelsea play a far more physical and efficient game than any other team in the world. They do not dominate but the make the most of their chances and defend well.

ManU have a great attacing threat with Rooney Ronaldo Berbs and Tevez but they are not always consistent.

Barca play great football with Henry Eto Messi Ineista and in spain where it is a far less physical game that works, but as you saw against chelsea barca struggle when the opposition are physical. They prefer playing ManU because Machester attack them and play nice football like barca, which works most of the time except when your opposition can do the same but better.

It's a club owned by its fans, generally prefers homegrown players, they refused to put a sponsor's name on their jersey until Unicef made an offer (in which Barcelona FC pays unicef, btw!) and the club seems to be very different to most other major European football clubs, most of which are controlled by big corporate money.

I see Barcelona FC as the closest thing to be an Open Source football team and that's why I support them.

The greatest football teams of all time...

10. Spain (2008 )

9. Holland (1974)

8. Hungary (1954)

7. AC Milan (1989)

6. England (1966)

5. Arsenal (2004)

4. Liverpool (1984)

3. Real Madrid (1960)

2. Manchester United (1999)

1. Brazil (1970)

I don't see Barcelona in the list.

Most time winner of champions league & champions cup:

Real Madrid-9
Milan-7
Liverpool-5
Bayern Munich-4
Ajax-4
Barcelona-3
Manchester United-3

And La Liga winners:

Real Madrid-31
Barcelona-19

So why Barcelona is the best team in the world?
I would say Real Madrid is.

They were not attacking, they were counter attacking. That shows that their philosophy on the game was defensive. And both goals, 1st from counter attack and 2st from a poor clearance in manu defence don't show an attacking game, neither the chances they had to create goals cause they were very few with ManU being wide open in the back after the 10 first minutes.

I'm not saying that Barcelona didn't deserve their win. ManU was pathetic. But winning the CL final for the 3rd time doesn't make them the best team in the world.

You seem a bit more passionate than myself, and I'm not sure that anyone in the thread alluded to Barca being the best in the world :) if someone has, i'd guess fan. Counterattack alludes to a team on the backfoot, maybe i saw a different game, but Barca had the lions share of posession for the whole game, and i saw many opportunities created in the ManU box and ManU players constantly disposessed under heavy marking.

If you don't like I team, I respect that but i saw dominating performance by one team in every aspect of the game. Very entertaining ;)

Read some newspapers, watch some professional footballers interviews and you'll se I'm right about their defensive game. So no more comments from me.

I assume this is the championship for the year over there?

Besides the World Cup and the Olympics, it's most likely the most watched sports event in the world.

Cool. Not trying to be ignorant, but apparently I am. I'm 40 years old so have been around a while, and follow most sports. We just don't get much news about soccer here.

Pulling facts out of your ***, are you?

Barcelona plays way more entertaining football than Chelsea does, that alone gives me reason enough to let Barcelona play the in the finals.
i noticed how you couldn't say they were the better team other than the way they play, entertaining football doesn't matter when you're not as good, that's just a fact!

this is all you need to know right HERE (http://www.google.com/search?&q=chelsea+robbed) the whole world knows it. :P

The 'Champions League' is the competition for the leading clubs in each country's league - Manchester & Barcelona were the Champions in England & Spain respectively. They both played 12 games against the best teams in europe to reach the final.

Many Americans don't realise just how big football is in the world. The gross income from football in England alone is approximately 50% of the American NFL. The highest paid player on the pitch last night, Christiano Ronaldo, signed a 4 year contract for USD 50 million in 2007, compare this with Leonard Davis 7-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys for a similar sum. (Last year Real Madrid were reported as offering USD 110 million for him to play for them)
