Hi,

So I'm running 8.10, and everything was running quite smoothly until I decided to try to install gloobus-preview (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1162840).

I was running into the issue of not having libpoppler-glib4 so I ran the command on the link (sudo touch /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jaunty.list && echo 'deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main restricted' | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jaunty.list && sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude install libpoppler-glib4 libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0 -y && sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jaunty.list && sudo aptitude update) and then ran the gloobus package. Nothing happened to note, so I restarted my computer. Now, after I select Ubuntu 8.10 in Grub, it just gives me the thinking sign for the mouse and a black screen.

I desperately need to get my Ubuntu side working again, any help is appreciated. If you need more information, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Bump.

There are school files in my Ubuntu side, is there a way to at least retrieve them from one of the other terminals (ctrl+alt+f1) and back them up so i could reload ubuntu?

I would prefer another way to do it, but I have papers to write.

Please, a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Bump.

Is there a way I could at least back up my files in my /home/username/Documents ? When I plug in my external harddrive I can't find it through the terminal.

Also, when I boot up and go to the command line, it reads:

kinit: name_to_dev_t(/dev/disk/by-uuid/2ac03204-c1b3-49e5-93f4-1af5f01e6bd2) = dev(8,7)
kinit: trying to resume from /dev/disk/by-uuid/2ac03204-c1b3-49e5-93f4-1af5f01e6bd2
kinit: No resume image, doing normal boot...

Does that mean anything?
