8.04 Will not upgrade to 8.10

I have an old Compaq armada with a Pentium III running ubuntu 8.04 and i would like to upgrade it to 8.10 but the update manager will not see the upgrade, i can get other updates but it will not give me the option to upgrade to 8.04 Any suggestions?

hm... you must first install all the upgrades available for 8.04 in order to get the upgrade option. if you still dont get it, try restarting your machine and then running the update manager as follows.

1. press "Alt + f2".
2. type out "update-manager -d".
