View Full Version : [ubuntu] User Enviornment Lockdown

Hello All,

Firstly, I'm a Ubuntu Nube. I am installing a dual boot XP Pro / Ubuntu 9.04 system for use in our meeting rooms. XP for access to our corporate network and Ubuntu for unrestricted internet access. I won't go into the need for the multi-platform system other than it say it's what "they" want.

I have the system installed and updated, added firewall and AV as well as customized the menus / panels to limit what the users will be able to do. I need to lock the user enviornment to prevent changes to the menus and panels and desktop background.

I tried the Sabayon application but it fails when trying to edit a newly created profile.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks.

Andrew.

I don't like Sabayon either. Try these scripts
http://davidmburke.wordpress.com/2009/06/07/unbreakablelinuxdesktop/

They will keep the user from changing wallpaper, desktop icons, fonts, etc.
