Problem With Pidgin?

I downloaded and installed the latest pidgin for ubuntu and now when i close pidgin instead of minimizing to the top pannel it closes .How to repair it

Where did you download it from? Did you remove the installed Pidgin including pidgin-data?

I completely removed the older one and installed the one downloaded from gedeb . org

Downgrade to the other Pidgin which worked? Or File a report : http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/TipsForBugReports

Reinstalled,downgaded But still dont get it in the notification area

I just did that today on my Jaunty and it works fine, have you enabled libnotify in synaptic?

Are you sure you have enabled the tray icon?

Tools -> Prefrences > Interface > Show system tray icon = Always.

If nothing works you can always reset pidgin by removing ~/.purple/prefs.xml
