this app looks amazing it basically allows you to take a web app and turn it into a regular app

its actually a platform not an app. ;)

I tend to lean on webkit while of course not dismissing prism.

Well, Prism isn't really "amazing". It's just a browser running without much chrome. You still need an internet connection.

But Prism is useful, especially for Meebo users as you can see from your ordinary taskbar when you've recieved a new IM. And, handily, Prism runs in a different process to your normal browser, so if your normal browser crashes it doesn't affect your Prism windows.

Yeh it's great. I use it for my kid's pcs so they can only access specific sites, without having a full browser. I'm sure one day they'll figure out how to make their own prism shortcuts, but for now they have not.

Personally I prefer all my tabs in one single window. I did try using my various webmail accounts in prism windows for a while, but it just got too unmanageable.

3rdalbum,

Actually it uses xulrunner, not firefox, so it's not technically a browser. And although it hasn't been done much yet, it's quite possible to turn your websites into full blown webapps, if you know a little xul.

You still need an internet connection.

Not sure if it's possible yet, but you should be able to load the google gears plugin, to use webapps offline (that support google gears).

I use it pretty extensively for Google Calendar. I'm too lazy to open a new tab, type the address and login.
Too bad the google gears firefox plugin doesn't work in prism, so I can't use google calendar offline in it. :(
