View Full Version : [ubuntu] Gnome Help thrashing my HDD

Not sure if it's just me, but I'm finding that Gnome Help is really thrashing my HDD if I simply move it from one side of the screen to the other or resize. It does it when calling help from an application that uses it (Evolution, Appearance, etc). No other application does it, not even the calling app. I can drag a WoW, Sacred Gold, Firefox, OpenOffice.org window around without a blip from the HDD.

If I drag and wave the Help window around, it can take up to 30 seconds to redraw the Help window contents depending on how much it is moved, with the HDD thrashing away all the time.

Anyone else having this issue? A search brings up lots of people asking for help with Gnome, but nothing for the Gnome Help application itself.

System:
Intel Core2 Duo 3.16GHz
4GB DDR2 1066MHz
nVIDIA 7950GTX with nVIDIDA 180.44 drivers
MSI Mobo (can't remember what chipset)
Ubuntu Jaunty (same issue with Intrepid) i386
stock kernel
Compiz not installed
