I have been using Ubuntu for a few months now and the only thing I cant seem to find is a plain text editor with built in FTP such as Notepad++ for windows. Color highlighting and auto complete is nice but if all it had was FTP that's all I need. Any recommendations?

why not use nautilus to mount ftp directories instead?

I think kate, the kde editor got ftp capabilities though.

Not a text editor, but an HTML editor; Arachnophilia (arachnoid.com)

He has a winders installer but it's written in Java so it can be used under Linux. He even has a tutorial on his site about making it work in Linux as I recall. It includes an FTP Upload service.

I haven't used it under Linux so I can't swear it works.

Downloading kate now. Mainly I just want a simple single solution. Remounting when you work on 4-5 servers a day gets old. Just hoping to find a simple solution.

After spending months using Eclipse for Freenet dev work I don't think I will be using Java for some time. Its a nice idea but the overhead for me is a joke. I'm sure its good for somethings but its not for me or my workflow. Worst case I will keep it in mind thou.

Perfect! Not as many features as N++ FTP (both of which I use often), but still a great alternative. Thx! :)
