View Full Version : [ubuntu] K7VEMPRO mobo doesn't want to advance

I have a Soyo K7VEMPRO mobo in a machine I lent a friend last year; installed Hardy and all was well. (Even with a 900mHz Athlon, 1gb of RAM really made it work well!)

She gave it back to me last week, so I tried to install Jaunty on it. No go. For starters, the graphical installer failed during initialization, leaving me at an "ubuntu@ubuntu" prompt. I downloaded and ran the alternate installer, which completed, apparently successfully, but during startup, I got the dreaded (and opaque) "IO APIC resources" error.

Reinstalling Hardy works fine (using the GUI installer), but since I'd like to sell this machine now, it behooves me to chase the latest version of Ubuntu.

Any thoughts? (If it will amuse anyone, I'll try to install Intrepid, just to pin down where the problem emerged.)
