In what countries are royalties required to use multimedia codecs and formats like jpg? I haven't been able to find a list.

what i know is that gif was patented, that's why png came out. of coz we can now using gif without issue as it was developed long time ago.

Also mp3 player sold in USA have to pay for patent. That's why meizu firmware disable the mp3 function, but keeping flac, ape, wav, wma lol

I thought it was a mix of English speaking countries, but I would be interested in that list as well.

I suspect even the people who are to gain Royalties or something from it don't know which countries enforce it and which do not!
