Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm completely new and after having looked around with Google I haven't seen any answer to my question. By the way yes I'm a newb to Linux in general.

Here it goes, I've recently installed Xubuntu and all the network and wireless settings are working perfectly fine it detected automatically my Netgear WG511 v1 with the Prism54 inside. I found out, maybe this is incorrect, tha xfce4-wavelan-plugin Xubuntu is using xfce4-wavelan-plugin for network and wireless. Now I've tried to install Kubuntu and tried a few things, but my Netgear never worked the light was always off.

So what I was wondering will installing the xfce4-wavelan-plugin in Kubuntu work just as well as it does in Xubuntu or will I have to use the instructions found elsewhere to make it work ?

Thanks

The newb
