I've wanted to learn more about servers for years, so I pulled an old computer from the garage and installed Ubuntu Server 9.04 with LAMP and OpenSSH Server.
However, I've been Googling my brains out and I cannot find a tutorial for what I'm hoping to accomplish! They're either not for private internal networks, or they're outdated, or both.
Ideally, I would like to set up a private internal server, connected to my Windows desktop through lan, mostly just to learn more about servers, but also to test php files before they go live.
Ideally, I'd like to access it remotely and have it be as secure as possible.
Is this even possible? Does anyone know of a good tutorial? I'd sincerely appreciate any help!
