xfce 4.6 in ubuntu 8.10??

I did some searching and could not find any definitive answers on how to install xfce 4.6 in ubuntu 8.10. Right now I'm running 4.4.3 and would like to upgrade, but can't upgrade to Jaunty because the newer version of xorg breaks compatibility with my ati drivers.

I'm fairly new to ubuntu and the deb package system, so any help on how to install 4.6 is appreciated.
