View Full Version : Ubuntu information architecture usability evaluation

June 4th, 2009, 12:23 PM
This is a thread requesting Ubuntu 9.04 users to complete a short (5-10 mins) questionnaire survey (15 multiple choice questions, 2 optional extended feedback questions).

This survey is part of a larger study undertaken by the informatics department of the University of Sussex sponsored and supported by Ubuntu's official sponsor Canonical. The study is based on the usability of Ubuntu 9.04 and data collected will lead to re-design proposals for the next major release of Ubuntu.

Results are confidential and your anonymity is guaranteed.

The researchers are also looking for participants to take part in short (45 min - 1 hour) computer task based interviews in their own homes for a 40 payment incentive. Participants need to be in London or the south east (UK) to apply. Participants in the Brighton area will take priority.

If you would like more information on the study or are interested in participating in user tasks in the London and Brighton area, please contact jaj23@sussex.ac.uk.

Done here as well.

Just as an extra, I notice that you're using surveymonkey.

Could I recommend Limesurvey ( http://www.limesurvey.org/ ) as an open source alternative for any future surveys you might consider doing on behalf of Ubuntu? It's nice to see open source projects supporting & using other open source projects, and I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to provide hosting for it if Canonical won't.

The survey will close in approximately 9 hours.

Thank you for all the responses. The results are very interesting and will be useful to the study.

Look out for a survey on Ubuntu re-design proposals over the next month

Good questions and didn't take long. Very nicely setup and a good, logical buildup of the questions.

Nevertheless, a small suggestion for the next time. Maybe you should include a "What do you like about Ubuntu?" question. Since there are also things we really like about Ubuntu or Linux in general and wish to express ;)
