Hi everybody!

I'm almost totally new to Linux- so any pointers would be appreciated!

Using UNetbootin, I installed the ISO of "ultimate-edition-2.1" ubuntu onto a 16GB usb flash drive.

When booting on any computer- it gives me the error: "No bootable partiton on drive"- which really should be spelled "No bootable partition on drive".

I've tried reformatting it- and I've also tried "Parted Magic" which both give me the same error.

Any advice? Thanks for your time! ;)

Problem *averted*!

What I did was burn the ISO to a DVD, boot up the dvd- then used the "USB-creator" to install to USB. It worked great... a little strained because of the slow DVD drive- but it worked!

And upon bootup off the USB drive (yay!) I was pleasantly surprised to have full support for everything already going- sound, monitors, network, yah!

And I was even more excited to get some of my key softwares running via-WINE- it has come a long ways since I last used it 10 years ago!!!

However I still have some smaller issues that need to be solved-

- Internet access is restricted to web only- how can I install the NVIDIA video driver manually? It wants to automatically connect and update- which is great- but doesn't work!

- is there a way to increase the casper-rw persistent loop file? I'm already running out of space...

All said- I'm extremely happy with the possibilities!

A good place to start is here (http://www.pendrivelinux.com/how-to-create-a-larger-casper-rw-loop-file/). You should also see this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1147101).
