Just bought one today. I do want it for very modest usage ie. internet and word processing so as it is with Linpus it would be good enough for that. Still tho i am used to ubuntu and i wouldn't mind installing it on it if possible. Has anyone done this and if so what if any problems did you have? Would you recommend it? Also how did you go about it? Id like to find out how to install it from a USB key. So any advice would be great. If you dont think ubuntu would be a good idea are there any other distros that would be worthwhile trying out? I really would just like to have the option of being able to install packages. Thanks

Ya I have Ubuntu Netbook Remix running on it and it runs like butter. Can't get the built in 3g working on it though.

For Jaunty, the wired networking broke after kernel update. So using the previous kernel version. For information on how to install using USB, you can check this link:

I installed, Ubuntu remix on my wife's and I Aspire Ones and it's amazing. The OS that comes with the Acer is ok for the first week, but when you want to do basic things like install new software or even watch a movie on the go not in a linux format it becomes a pain.

I will say look out for strange updates and you will be happy you made the switch.

See this help page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne) and this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1142964) for more on Ubuntu on the Aspire One.

Netbook Remix is working fine on mine.
