I want a simple CMS for a personal site. It will probably include some blog posts, maybe some sort of photo album, and some other stuff. I just can't be bothered doing html these days.

Anyone care to recommend something?

I've been playing around with Joomla and I've implemented Mediawiki pretty well for other things, but these tools seem a bit like using a nuclear weapon to kill an ant.

Wordpress is good.

I'm not a fan of Joomla either. It'd be useful in a multi-user situation, but for a personal site it's just too restrictive.

I love Joomla. I tried several CMS applications, but Joomla has been my choice for a long time.

Maybe you can find something lighter at http://www.opensourcecms.com/

Check here: http://www.opensourcecms.com/

Reviews, and live demos with logins so you can take a look at the admin config and mess around with settings. Also has a fantastic layout with CMS grouped according to function, tutorials, and news.

Oh yeah, fantastic resource. ;)

Personally, I use cutenews: http://cutephp.com/ very configurable and VERY light.

Whew. Lots of ideas. I'm just going to have to bring my localhost to its knees trying them all out.

Thanks for the opensourcecms site link, I didn't know of it.

I'm going to try out Wordpress, Cutenews, Jaws and ModX for now. Configurability is important too.

Thanks for your suggestions. :)

http://www.opensourcecms.com is a very good resource to try out different sets of software. Personally I like Wordpress for personal sites and PHPFusion for more full -featured or multi user sites.

I don't like Joomla at all. It hasn't gotten any better as far as I'm concerned since their split with Mambo.

Wordpress is what you need, there are a pile of plugins for it to give you what you need. Also, it's not overkill for your project. If you want to see what it can do, go to my site at www.danmaher.com, it's completely run by Wordpress and a few plugins. And if you're technology oriented, you might like the top video on the video page!

Of the ones I've tried out so far, Wordpress has impressed me the most. I love the way the themes work. I think I might just have to go with this.
