I installed KDE over my normal Gnome desktop and from the start it was mostly broken. I instead chose to run some aspects of KDE in gnome (Plasma mostly) which worked well. However, I wanted to switch over to KDE fully and when I was ready to start fixing the many issues KDE was having I found it was working fine. After restarting my computer and logging into KDE I found nothing was working again (Plasma and Kwin never start, dual screen resolutions don't work at all), however when I log into Gnome as a psuedo-kde environment and then switch to KDE everything works fine. I want to be able to just run KDE and Gnome separately but can't until I figure out why Plasma and Kwin won't run on startup and why KDE's display manager doesn't work at all (I am using open source ATI drivers with 1440x900 and 1280x1024 by the way).
