I currently and running 8.40 on a box that runs a creative 5.1 live drive.
The sound is GONE .. NOTHING. Worked fine for a while after a HUGE amount of time in terminal, but an upgrade ate it.
SO .. using the 9.10 as a live disk attempted to see IF the sound works .. it does NOT.
I am reluctant to install the build simply because I really do not want to go through all of the BS that was needed to get 8.40 working and then have it FAIL AGAIN.
Are they EVER going to get the sound to work out of the box? Everything else does (except for proprietary drivers for NVida that have to be installed.)
Why can't they seem to get Creative Sound right in the digital output mode? It is such a common card. If they would devote as much time to an essential as they devote to programming stuff that is seldom used, I am sure a solution could be found.
