Greetings to all,

i would like to ask if there is a way to have my desktop shortcuts, independent of my workspaces. i.e. download a file to workspace 1 that i do not want to see on workspace 2,3,4 e.t.c.

At the moment all workspaces are connected. Any change will apply to all.

Thanks

Leon

At my knowledge this isn't an available option. Especially in gnome, that is supposed to be simple, and they will not implement it.

KDE? they are kind of close, you can chose which folder will show up as Desktop, or even none(desktop treated as a huge panel) and you can chose the background for each workspace.

If you want a lot of (useless?)customization, then you should try KDE, however now its quite buggy, i recommend to wait at least 4.3 .

EDIT: i think you actually can do that in KDE, but its still experimental, and can be configured only threw the config file.
