Hey all,

Alacarte is buggy in Jaunty and Intrepid and almost everything else it seems. Anyways I didn't come here to bicker I was hoping someone could help locate the files that need to be edited in order to add or in my case remove items from the menu. When I click on Applications I have this one program that cannot be changed by Alacarte and it's bugging me... The answer to my question will likely be good little tutorial on editing the menu system in Gnome Ubuntu anyways... hoping someone can contribute.

Thanks all

This might help explain how the menu is constructed: http://ubuntu-lxde.wikidot.com/menu

Essentially, the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications/ can be modified manually.

However, I've managed to use Alacarte successfully in Gnome.

Thanks for the link... it definitely is related but I was unable to locate where exactly the items within each menu are placed. Maybe you could help clarify because all I was able to find was how to add a item to the menu but wasn't able to find out where the actual menu items are stored.

Thanks

I also need help with this, I am breaking my head here trying to simply clean up my menu a bit, and the main menu editor just won't do the job.
