hey guys, dunno if this is the right place to ask so feel free to move my post around.
Installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a brand new PC and am experiencing a huge slow down while copying files. I.e. copied files from an external USB HD the speed shown was 27Mb/sec but soon it slowed down to 5mb/sec and I wasn't able to do anything else during the copy process.
I am pretty sure there is some problem with the mainboard as its pretty new and maybe not fully supported by ubuntu. During the installation I got an error about some of my USB ports, not all of them work.
Also when I installed an OS on virtualbox while the windows files were copied to the virtual HD I couldn't do anything else, Firefox took 35minutes to open...
I knwo you need more info to help me so ask ahead. How would I get a listing of all my hardware to post it here?
