Well, first off, I'd like to say that I am a complete and utter noob at Ubuntu. This is my first time running it ever.

I've managed to get through the installation process, and I'm running it from a hard-drive rather than live CD.

I'm trying to install my first program, and I've hit a brick wall already.

Could someone give me an idiots, step by step guide to installing GFire?

Thanks.

This should help: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=226456

Also have you looked for it in Synaptic? Installing it with Synaptic will be much easier than compiling from source but I am not sure if it is in the repositories. I would check but I am at work and far from my Ubuntu boxes (sitting here on this POS Win2000 computer).

Also I just found a deb package for it on sourceforge...

http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=141362&filename=gfire_0.8.1_i386.deb&a=89848468

You can download this file and it will give you the option to install it with the package manager.

I am assuming that you are using the 32 bit version of Ubuntu, if you are running the 64 bit version you need this package.
