Hi there,

An absolutely newcomer to Ubuntu world (just downloaded the ISO :) ); my apology if this question already been answered.

How fast Ubuntu is to boot? Is it possible to boot under 20 sec or very close? I'm building a Linux based Media Center PC, which gonna go beneath the TV and want really a super fast boot time. Tried Puppy Linux but not impressed with the distro itself (no luck with gcc) and I don't think DSL gonna be any better, so I decided a full distro in the end.

Another question: Is Ubuntu suitable for Media Center project? I'm probably gonna run Oxine (http://oxine.sourceforge.net) or xbmc (http://xbmc.org/) as the main application. Is there any good alternative for Ubuntu available?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!!!

That sounds very promising. Did you do any tweak[s] in the boot sequence to speed things up? cheers!!!
