don't you hate being forced to watch previews, etc. on that DVD you bought? maybe it is nice the first time, but now that you are watching that movie for the 20th time it's really annoying. that is due to Prohibited User Operations (excuse me?) or PUOs. when i make a backup, i like to remove those, so i can skip what i don't want to watch. but, i don't know how to do that with ubuntu. can someone help?

I use dvd::rip.
It is a very complete SW, and extracts different files for each preview, trailer or so.

thanks. i checked out dvd::rip, but i don't think it does what i'm looking for. really i just want a backup of the disc, like an iso file+mds file, with the PUO's removed, perfect for recreating the disc later. something like that. from other posts, it appears that dvd decrypter will run with wine installed, but trying to avoid that setup.

Try K9copy in Add/Remove (all available application)
