View Full Version : [gnome] Logout & Shutdown options vanished from Gnome System Menu

I used to have options for Log Out and Shut Down in the System menu, on the Gnome panel. Suddenly, they are not there. The only thing I've changed is disabling visual effects... but I wouldn't think that was related. I tried re-enabling the visual effects anyway, but to no avail.

I was able to add applets to the panel, but I'd like to get them back on the menu. I tried "Edit Menus" and I can add a custom application launcher from there, but I don't know what I'd need to put in to the fields. And the panel applets don't have a "Properties" option as most applets do.

So in short, can anyone tell me how to get these options back on the menu where they belong?

Thanks! :)

I don't know how you ever got them there. In jaunty they removed them from the system menu.

That's odd, because I certainly had them.

They should put them _somewhere_ obvious. Very new users wouldn't know to go poking around the panel, or to use shutdown in the command line.
