As the title says, I've got a usb stick with a few different distros on it and grub set up. I downloaded the ubuntu iso and extracted it, then tried booting it from /casper/vmlinuz and /casper/initrd but it throws an invalid file format when I try to boot.

So I'm just curious how to make the calls, could someone post a sample menu.lst entry maybe? I know there are things like unetbootin and liveusbcreator but I'm not sure if those format the partition or not, I'm just booting from folders so I"ve got them all sitting on the same partition.

Anyway, thanks for any suggestions I'm kinda stumped
