I know there is an Alsa install script in another thread, but because of the sheer amount of bugging and incompatibility problems with the current version, could not an apt-get removable solution be offered somewhere?

[Over the years, I have had more problems with Alsa than every other issue in Linux. I have had a problem Alsa with most computer hardware I have installed Linux on.

On the low-level, perhaps even, OSS would have been better than ALSA.

Pulseaudio seems like a regrettable a mistake.

JACK should have been the default sound server.]

Thanks for the link, although, the kernel I have been running is the current one, and no higher: 2.6.28-11-generic

Compiling and installing from the script worked fine, but it's a lot of work to do for every Lenovo S10 owner.

I fear problems because it's warning me that it's compiled against a higher kernel. I suppose I could try it and if it doesn't work I can take it out, and use the install script.

Thank You : )

I added the binary URI to synaptic, imported the key, and did a refresh, but there' no new packages listed. I probably bumped something. I'll check it later, or just use the script, and then when the kernel is upated, I can reinstall it again. Compiling against the kernel seems a better theory than practice.
