hi Folks,
yesterday I decided to upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04 using update manager. As upgrade started I had to leave and when I came back my laptops wa in standby mode. I don't know if upgrade completed. After hard restart I got several console outputs (including some nvidia driver error), than the gnome login screan appeared with the 'localhost.localdomain' entry at the bottom instead of 'my_name-laptop'. After typing in username and password nothing happens (screen freeze). alt+f1 (tty1) shows some messages and 'Ubuntu 9.04 localhost.localdomaintty1
localhost.localdomain login:' prompt at the and. tty2 - tty6 show ''Ubuntu 9.04 my_name-laptop
my_name-laptop login'.

p.s. I'm newby in Linux

Any help welcome!!!
Thanx in advance

If you have a live cd you could try and boot from that to fix broken packages. And it sounds like you might have to reinstall the nVidia drivers.
