YES you may hate me for it ...
My idea was that once there will be a Payment system implemented in apt /Add and Remove so users can pay for software directly with paypal or charge there account at the "paylinux" website by Canonical and then just check "Adobe Premiere" in add and Remove Checkout and install from Repos ](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)
I always knew i had some fantasy but i didnt knew it was that bad ...

Kinda like the Apple store?
It's a good idea for items that require payment but not really practical in linux since most of the software is free as in beer. From what I've seen the few bits of software you must pay for (eg: crossover) are in self-installing scripts and their website has clear instructions rendering the idea null

Can you imagine?
$> sudo apt-get install adobe-photoshop-cs4
[sudo] password for bob: ******
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Please enter your credit card number: *****************
[shudder] For such a thing to happen, proprietary software developers would have to be in cahoots with Linux vendors. Like that's ever gonna happen. *cough*except novell*cough*

If you think it's such a horrible idea, why did you post it?

Maybe something they could do for Mac.
But pay-for systems, in general, discriminate against free content. It's possible to serve free content in a system where you would otherwise pay for it, but it's just easier to slap a big blanket fee on any developer wanting to make free content available on it.
It could only really work if the non-free content was the exception, rather than the rule, but in those cases the non-free devs/producers would probably get undercut to some degree.
What you're thinking of is like Steam, which is fine for games, but not appropriate for apps and tools that you may need to rely on.

It could end up looking something like this if government tries to control everything:
sudo apt-get install adobe-photoshop-cs4
[sudo] password for bob: ******
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Please enter your citizens debit card number: ***-***-***-666_666_666

or it would use canonical's openid, so you would just give it your login info, and it will make the transaction all on its own (after asking you if you are sure you want to buy the item first)

I actually think it would be pretty cool.
Especially if we got more good games.

Wow that idea was so bad it made me sterile just by reading it.
This should carry a big fat warning.
