Maybe I haven't done my homework, but can someone tell me why the ubuntu canonical archives "partner" is considered a third-party software source and what does it have in general that isn't included in the main, universe, and restricted ubuntu repositories that are enabled by default? Should users automatically check off those two boxes in the third-party software tab in the systems > administration > software sources app for the archive.canonical.com/ubuntu partner repos?

Partner is often associated with non open source software, such as Opera, Adobe flash, Java and the like.
Canonical had a deal with Adobe to include flash and reader in the repositories.
